2005 Preview
whenever a year goes by i've found myself
almost inevitably thinking it was good but it
could have been better...with that in mind all i
got to say is 2005 looks fabulous!
BLOCKBUSTERS!!!!!
-Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith
Never been much of a Star Wars fan here, but I really enjoyed Episode II and I think Hayden Christensen will be
really good as Darth Vader! Plus I wanna see the royal babies, I hope Leia has mini buns on her head...
-
War of the Worlds
Spielberg's good at stuff like this (Close Encounters...wow) but a part of me tells me this one will not be that
good.
-
Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire
A new book, a new movie and Ralph Fiennes, this looks posed to being Harry's year again...
...NOT SO SURE
-Kingdom of Heaven
Ridley Scott often does wonders, but
Orlando Bloom is a big turn off for me,
ooh but there's Eva Green too! Sighs I
don't know...
-
Fantastic Four
Other than Michael Chiklis the cast is just
weird.
-
Monster-in-Law
It's Jane Fonda!!!!! And J-Lo...
-
Sin City
The buzz surrounding it is awesome and it
does star Clive Owen and Bruce Willis! But
oh who is it I see? Jessica Alba and
Rosario Dawson.
-
Cinderella Man
Still the Oscar project to watch...Same
insecurities I had last year, Crowe and
Zellweger yay, but Ron Howard yuk! And
mark my words Paul Giamatti will win an
Oscar for this. Unless that is, the Academy
is done with boxing movies for now...
AUTEUR???
-Batman Begins
This has always been the darkest of the
comic book series and with Christohper
Nolan attached I can easily see it grabbing
that "Best of" title from Spidey.
-
Melinda and Melinda
Every year Woody Allen is expected to
deliver his new masterpiece, every year he
fails...here's hoping with this one!
-
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Artsy directors making blockbusters huh?
Seems to be the trend this year.
-
The Fountain
I have no idea what it's about but I'm dying
to see it somehow.
-Romance & Cigarettes
A musical!!! With Kate Winslet!!!!!!
-
Howls Moving Castle
Hayao Miyazaki's new work of art.
-
The Brothers Grimm
Gilliam KNOWS how to make visual art.
2004 WAS THE YEAR OF THE BIOPIC, THIS WILL BE THE YEAR OF THE...
-Everything is Illuminated

Liev Schreiber directs Elijah Wood.
-
The Island
The new Michael Bay extravaganza, and it would never be in my "to see" list if it didn't star both Ewan
McGregor and Scarlett Johansson!
-
Rent
Is Michael Columbus capable of bringing this to the big screen? Oh and there's Rosario Dawson again...
-The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Laura Linney, Tom Wilkinson, wait a minute, is there even need to continue?
-
The Upside of Anger
Joan Allen will get another Oscar nod.
-
Bee Season
Juliette Binoche in a spelling bee movie.
-Jarhead
I did love "Black Hawk Down" so I'm expecting a lot from Sam Mendes new drama about the Gulf War.
-
In Her Shoes
Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz play sisters, Shirley MacLaine is their grandma. A must see!
-The White Countess
If the Merchant Ivory team make it like they did in the early 90s this will be one hell of a movie! A family affair as
well with Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave as well as Natasha Richardson.

LOOK BAD
(BUT I'LL PROBABLY END UP SEEIN' 'EM..)
-Robots
I have seen the trailer lots of times and still I don't
know what it will be about, or care for that
matter...
-
The Ring 2
It's the 2 that worries me.
-
Aeon Flux
I'm sorry but it looks very boring. Although
Frances McDormand always breathes life into
whatever she does.
VERY MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT:
-Ask the Dust
I love Colin Farrell and Robert Towne, but Salma
Hayek is here too, and that has never been a good
omen.
-
The Weather Man
Nicolas Cage has been doing fantastic work lately,
but this could end up being "Adaptation" or "The
Family Man", you just never know with Nic.
-Casanova
Can Heath Ledger really pull this off?
